About Us

My name is Bruce Katuna, author of this website.  I am happily married, have two lovely teen-age daughters, two dogs, two horses, and a quaker parrot (anybody out there need a bird??)

I am a neurologist, enjoy playing tennis, and a long, long time ago was a juggler and clown in a small Seattle-based circus.  In 1977 my juggling partner and I performed on center stage of the Seattle Kingdome during a Peter Frampton concert.  (The second line of the first song he sung ended up being the story of my life:  "...I went to the doctor, just another clown.")

I played varsity basketball at Sir Francis Drake high school in San Anselmo, CA in the early 1970's.   I played adult men's rec ball until about the year 2000, which is the year I realized I was too old to be competitive.

My basketball highlights include beating Bryant Stith in a game of HORSE at a Denver Nuggets fantasy camp when he was the Nuggets' starting shooting guard.

I also made the game winning free throw in the championship game of the Colorado state adult men's recreation tournament.  It was the only point of the game I scored.

I coached my daughter's youth basketball team, which one year made it to the championship game of the most competitive Denver Gold Crown league.  It was during this time I realized my players, and most other players I saw play, don't shoot very well.

I began to study the art and science of shooting, and soon realized there were lots of different ideas out there about the proper way to shoot a basketball.  Building on the work of others, I have developed my own system which I believe is better than any system that I've seen promoted or published.

I have been a shooting coach for several years, working in the off-season with many players on improving their shooting as well as other offensive and defensive basketball skills.
